Entry into Denmark

Various rules apply to travels to Denmark depending on how you arrive in Denmark and your ties with or your purpose of entering Denmark.

Requirements regarding test and isolation

Countries and regions are classified into three categories: yellow, orange and red. These categories determine the requirements when arriving in Denmark. The rules also depend on whether you are travelling on a negative test, have been vaccinated or have previously been infected with COVID-19.

Categorization of countries

All countries are being labelled as either yellow, orange or red. When you travel into Denmark, whether you depart from a yellow, orange or red country will affect the requirements in connection with your entry. 

Travelling to Denmark by air

Everyone, including Danish citizens, who travels to Denmark by air, is required to show a negative COVID-19-test before boarding the plane to Denmark. Read more on the rules that apply.

Especially for...

Foreigners who are not habitually resident in or do not hold a valid residence permit for Denmark must have a worthy purpose to enter Denmark and must present a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 48 hours before entry.There are a few exemptions, and special rules apply, including to foreigners resident in a border region.

Danish nationals and foreigners who are habitually resident in or hold a valid residence permit for Denmark can always enter Denmark regardless of their purpose.
